Let me see, this is a team that has struggled since their big number 1 centre Sundin left a long time ago.

So now they have a chance to draft a big number 1 centre and there is actual debate as to whether they will?

The only way they don't draft Matthews is if Edmonton offers McDavid for Leafs number 1 and Rielly.

And that is not happening.

From everything that I've heard / read / seen, Eichel is a poor man's Matthews. Only slightly poorer, but poorer nonetheless

I think Matthews is the easy choice over Eichel
